The European legislative framework, which was approved as a part of the so-called Circular Economy Package in May 2018, also focuses specifically on the prevention and reduction of food waste. And the Czech Republic has taken this into account while preparing the update of its waste management plan and waste prevention programme, which will now have a separate part dedicated to the food waste and its prevention. 

Vladislav Smrž

Deputy Minister of Environment of Czech Republic

Vladislav Smrž was born in 1977, he graduated from the Socio-Economic Faculty of the University of JE Purkyně in Ústí nad Labem. He worked in the chemical and automotive industries, where he was responsible for human resources, security and asset management. Before joining MoE he worked as personnel director at Lovochemie. In his leisure time he enjoys sports, skiing and riding horse. He is married and has two daughters. He is currently Deputy Minister for Section of Environmental Policy and International Relations at MoE.
